Yesterday, the Falcon (CO) fire department hosted its second annual Easter egg hunt for kids. Goodies, toys, and special prizes were donated by local businesses, and the Easter Bunny even made a special appearance.

The most well known cause that firefighters support is probably the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Every year over Labor Day weekend, firefighters stand on street corners and outside of stores asking passersby to donate to MDA by throwing spare change into their firefighting boots. Some firefighters also volunteer at MDA camps for children with muscular dystrophy.
I’ve known firefighters who volunteered as “Big Brothers,” helped homeless teens, and coached or refereed for Little League or their kids’ school football teams. Firefighters volunteer at schools, read to kids, and help collect toys for less fortunate children at the holidays. One of my friends is involved with an organization that teaches safety techniques to children.
